New setup, slow PC experience
Upgrade the newest chipset drivers from AMD’s site if needed. Possibly refresh your BIOS and verify settings aren’t reset to defaults. Look for any processes loading at startup. Windows 10 often runs background apps like Edge, so consider turning off HPET and ensuring you have the correct power plan active.
Currently, all my hardware drivers are up to date and nothing seems different. I haven’t adjusted any BIOS settings, and no unusual processes like Edge are running. This slowdown might be due to the latest Windows update. Switching to an SSD could help, but using a hard drive isn’t the issue at this point.
It seems Game DVR might be linked to freezing problems. I checked the Settings app and the Xbox app, but there’s no way to disable it there. Could there be another solution?
Installed chipset drivers from AMD's site instead of those bundled with the motherboard. Verify your BIOS is current and confirm settings haven't been altered. The BIOS might reset configurations if there are booting issues or a flash update. For an SSD, it significantly improves startup and loading times—consider purchasing a modest, affordable one to install the OS. Running HWinfo and CPU-z could provide useful insights into system status, voltages, and speeds, and sharing screenshots may help us assess the setup better.
