Hey there! I really need a clear answer, even if it’s not what I expect. My PC was set up about five months back, and I’ve seen some major lag and stuttering lately—especially in games like Cyberpunk when you’re in busy spots or streets. It drops to around 40 frames per second constantly, making it tough to play. GTA follows the same pattern, going from 180 FPS down to the low 40s and sometimes even lower. Elden Ring is holding up better, with only occasional drops from 60 to about 54 FPS or less so far.

I’m not a tech expert, but I’ve checked forums and haven’t gotten much help. It might be related to my graphics card or my CPU. When lag happens, my GPU usage spikes to 100%, while my CPU stays under 70%. My GPU is also running hotter—about 70% usage—and my CPU rarely hits full capacity, which suggests the RTX 3070 could be the bottleneck, possibly because of a Ryzen 5 5600. My cooling system seems fine, and the build specs look solid.

I’ve looked at some benchmark results (like those on UserBenchmark) and they show my CPU usage stays high even when I shut down most programs. The scores aren’t always consistent, but sometimes they dip after closing everything. My SSD performance varies too. Overall, my current FPS range is between 9.5 and 405.3, with a low of 9.5 and a high of about 197.9.

I’m a bit worried this could be a hardware problem, especially since I’ve tried everything and still haven’t found a fix. I have eight days left before I might send the parts back. Could you help me rule out these possibilities? Thanks a lot!

Engine performance drops after reaching 187.5FPS; cap your frame rate or boost graphics settings to maintain stability. For reliable optimization, consider titles such as e-sports games or Doom Eternal.

It's a recognized issue with GTA CP2077, mainly due to GPU limitations. My 3080 performs okay at 1080 but struggles significantly at 4K and drops to terrible performance at 40-45fps on the 3090. Upgraded cards could potentially improve things.

Great plan, I'll download the game and see how it goes. It should take some time to load, but I expect better performance than the others. I'm still a bit confused about a few features my components respond to, but it doesn't seem like a major red flag. So far, I've played similar titles like The Forest, which give decent results though they can occasionally drop to lower FPS. R6 seems to work well, but it does strain my PC in some cases. Minecraft is known for being CPU-heavy, so occasional lag in busy areas makes sense.

Wow, the game feels pretty rough for GTA. At first it seemed exclusive to me, but I did try pushing it a bit harder. I think that’s a plus. For Cyberpunk, my problem is my brother has a 3060 with an Intel i5 and seems to get higher FPS than me—just a little dip during fights, probably because his settings are adjusted down.

Are you asking about the 3060 or the 3060 Ti? The latter is quite similar to a 3070. I saw a video (possibly here) showing the 3090 in poor condition, and I’m not sure if recent updates have fixed that. Running 3D Mark might help—ask a friend to try it too. In theory, your system should run faster, though the CPU still plays a role, even if only slightly.

The rating is excellent, buddy. It seems my 3080 scored around 15k, which means your score is solid. When I had the 3070, I was nearing 10k, but it wasn't released yet so the drivers weren't at their best. I think you're adjusting the settings! Edit - incorrect score.

That's positive! 😊 Your score looks better now, but the performance drop and lower process frequency still bother you. It might help to check your system settings or hardware specs. If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask for clarification. Hope this gives you some insight! Let me know if you need more help. Lol

You could look at overclocking but to be honest with the exception of Cyberpunk my 3070 run everything perfectly at factory settings. Theres an FPS counter on the nvidia software that is useful. CPU will only turbo if its needs to. The fact that its running at 3.5 is not a massive concern. CPU does matter, but not as much as people may think. As long as its half decent then normally it won't affect performance too much. https://forums.
