New setup just arrived but can't detect any storage devices without CSM enabled.
Hey there. I understand the CSM questions are everywhere online, but I’ve been working on fixing this for a week and still can’t resolve it. I just built a new PC and it won’t boot in full UEFI mode. Since I don’t have a functional PC, reading this is tough. When CSM is turned on, only the boot drive shows up in BIOS. If I turn CSM off, the NVMe appears in Storage Info but isn’t a boot option. Setting CSM to “UEFI Only” helps, but then I get stuck with “Select proper boot device.” This happens with both a SATA SSD and a test drive. My old build used a Gigabyte X570 UD, Ryzen 7 5800X, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe. The new one is ASUS X870-PLUS with Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Corsair Vengeance ddr5 2x16, same NVMe drive, plus a 3080. I’ve tried other HDDs and SSDs too. I’ve reinstalled Windows 11 and 10, used Rufus and the official tool, and checked GPT partitions. CSM is off, Secure Boot disabled, storage set to UEFI only. I made EFI boot files with bcdboot to fix the partition, and confirmed the file exists. I tried adding it to the EFI shell with bcfg boot, but it disappears after reboot (NVRAM doesn’t save). I copied the bootloader to a fallback path, but it still isn’t detected in UEFI. BIOS was updated on both systems. CMOS cleared several times. I’m running out of ideas—I’ve checked every forum and resource I could find. Anyone else experienced this?
