New setup – Installation of Windows 11 failed.
Hello, I’m facing difficulties installing Windows 11. The system freezes during setup, especially when downloading. After installing the PC, I tried to boot into the operating system but encountered freezing issues while downloading. I used the MSI website driver for my motherboard. Once the download completed, I entered the restart option, but the screen would freeze again. This happens on my MAG MSI Arsenal gaming monitor. I’ve reset the CMOS, swapped RAM sticks to slots 2 and 4 (not near the CPU), and even removed one stick from slot 4, leaving only slot 2 with one stick. The freezing seems to occur around debug code #35-38, particularly at 35. I’d prefer not to disassemble major components. Have you considered adjusting BIOS settings before starting the OS installation? My configuration includes a Thermaltake View 270 case with a MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi CPU cooler, Corsair Titan iCUE RGB 360 power supply, Corsair RM750e power supply (2025), Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForxe RTX 4070, Super Windforce OC 12GB RAM, and Crucial P3 Plus 2TB storage. I’m new to PC building and want to avoid any hardware changes.
You generated your W11 Installation USB drive using a Microsoft app, correct? If Wi-Fi encounters issues, you can switch to Ethernet for a stable connection.
Hey there! I have the USB drive with the activation code, but I can't reach the Ethernet cable right now.
Get the Microsoft app for installing W11 and generating a fresh USB key. Updated April 9, 2025 by leclod.
It turned out the issue was about installation. The freezing ceased after I changed the HDMI connection from the motherboard to the GPU.
