Hello! Welcome. I have a few questions about my setup. I own an ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 4090, ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 Hero Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL (ROG certified). My concern is that I believe the GPU isn’t properly seated in the motherboard. The mainboard has a sliding clamp on the right side for the slot—it opens and clicks when installed. But I notice a small gap of about 1-2mm, and after bending my case slightly, it still doesn’t fully secure. Does this seem normal? Is there anything wrong with this? Any suggestions would be great! My PC was built around eight years ago.

You're worried about damaging your PC. It's better to wait until everything is fully installed before starting. That way, you avoid any risk of breaking the motherboard or GPU.

Thanks for your responses thus far! I'm currently at work and can't test it right now, but I'll try it tomorrow if you suggest it's worth starting.

It appears to fit properly in both the left and right sides of the PCIe slot. You might want to gently move it around, but it shouldn't cause any damage if it's not aligned correctly—it won’t explode. Overall, it looks fine.

It looks good. Every pin is connecting properly and you felt the click. It’s time to power it up! This GPU needs frames to display content.
