New Ryzen 5 7600x configuration experiencing a GPU issue despite having an integrated graphics card.
Hey everyone, I just finished assembling all the components for my PC and placed it on the desk to test. Luckily, everything started up properly and booted into Windows. When I powered it off and reassembled it inside the case (ASUS Prime AP 201), the Asrock motherboard emitted five short beeps instead of a successful boot. The manufacturer’s manual mentions a GPU-related issue. I attempted to run the game with and without the dedicated GPU, but neither worked—no display output and persistent beeping. What might have gone wrong during installation? Are there any additional troubleshooting steps or diagnostic tools you recommend? I only have a few replacement parts left, and this is the only AM5 socket CPU available, with just one other GPU (the old Quadro) for testing. Here’s the build summary: ASRock B650M-HDV.M2 Ryzen 5 7600X Thermalright Silent Assasin 120 cooler GTX 1060 6GB 32 GB DDR5 HyperX. Thanks in advance!
Did you forget to plug your bios in? You might reset it by removing the CMOS battery. Have you got another gpu to try and see if it works with a different one? Also check if the power cable or connections were loose or shifted. It's surprising how often fixing mice or keyboards helps, and the same applies here. Are the gpu mounting instructions correct? Also, changing the front I/O might help unless you swapped a positive for a negative by mistake.
I attempted to reset the CMOS and reattach the cables, but it didn’t resolve the issue. The red VGA LED on the motherboard stayed lit during boot and there were five beeps. I’ll handle the connections more carefully now. Thank you for your response! Update: I removed the parts from the case again to try and get it working like before, and it finally booted without problems. Could a short in the case affect power cables or something similar? If so, what steps should I take to avoid it?
Verify the standoffs are accurate and there isn’t one for a hole that doesn’t exist. I actually discovered a computer without standoffs. He reported the GPU wouldn’t secure properly—no surprise since the mainboard was half a centimeter too far back without them. Luckily, he wasn’t damaged.
The HDMI cable was the issue, but it’s working now inside the case.
