Hello, I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600X to a Ryzen 5 5600X. After setting up the 5600X, I can no longer run my PC with two RAM sticks installed. I’ve gone back to the 2600X to check if the RAM slot is the problem, but it boots up and works perfectly with two sticks on the 2600X. I’ve used both a 2x8GB and a 2x16GB configuration with the 2600X in A2+B2 and A1+B1 setups, as well as with the suggested BIOS (7B79vAL) and the latest Beta BIOS (7B79vAM1). The issue only appears when installing the 5600X. Placing a single stick into A2 from either kit still lets me boot fine with the new processor. I’m really concerned about needing to buy a new motherboard, since I wanted the 5600X specifically.
Take the 5600x at 5600 pixels and consider swapping it for a used model to cut costs. Refunding the original lets you purchase a used 5600x for $80–$100, allowing you to test the CPU before buying and saving money by opting for a part with near-zero risk—99.9% of CPUs don’t fail unexpectedly, which is a solid point based on experience from people who’ve bought many units.
I would verify the performance of the 5600X across different systems to confirm there are no issues with the CPU's memory controller.
Send the CPU to a repair shop for testing on a motherboard. Before doing so, check for any bent pins on the CPU. Although CPUs aren't prone to failing easily, defects can still occur when products leave the factory.
I just wanted to share an update: I ordered a fresh B550 board. After installing the new CPU and both RAM sticks, everything functioned perfectly. I decided to go with a new board, but I noticed some strange problems after using the old one. Thanks for your assistance!
