I possess a NAS equipped with an ASUS Z10PA-U8 board and an Intel Xeon i5-2660 v4 processor. It runs on 16GB ECC DDR4 RAM, and everything was functioning properly without any issues. The unit was purchased from eBay. Recently, I acquired a new 64GB DDR4 ECC 2666MHz RAM stick and attempted to swap it into DIMM_A1. I encountered an error labeled "Memory Init." After resetting the BIOS again, the same problem persisted. I found some online discussions suggesting similar issues, but one user reported booting successfully with a single stick while another mentioned their system didn’t boot at all. The manual linked provided some guidance. Please share any advice, as I’m unsure what to do next.

Where the ram stick pressed deep, it finally clicked. It required a lot of effort.

The memory failed to progress completely and triggered a click sound.

Sometimes when both RAM slots are labeled DIMM_A1 and DIMM_C1, the system displays error code b0, identical to the situation where no RAM is installed.

It appears the previous DIMM is still present but not functioning properly now. This suggests a possible issue with the DIMM slot itself rather than just a temporary software glitch.

You could try different approaches. What you decide depends on your goals and available options.

No, it's not recommended. Isopropyl alcohol can damage certain connectors and may not be suitable for cleaning them properly.

People often assume sockets can last forever, but the truth is they’re built for very limited insertion cycles—sometimes just six or fewer. The ratings listed show this reality. Check the datasheet for models rated at 25 insertions. Think about how many cycles you actually run before getting your device!

Based on that reasoning, it's no longer viable.

However, the issue persists across different slots.
