I found a surprisingly good offer on a used PC and have been operating it all summer. It seems the installer might not have done everything correctly. I shut it down, removed the RAM to confirm proper placement, reinstalled it, then turned it back on. I forgot to unplug the power supply, which caused it to restart several times before failing to boot. No display appears, caps and scroll lock don’t function. All RGB features and USB ports work, fans and cables are fine, and there’s been no sudden power loss since startup. I tried HDMI and DP connections, swapped the GPU with an old one, and even used all ports. I removed the CMOS battery overnight, let it sit for five minutes, held the power button to discharge capacitors, reset the CMOS with pins, and tested RAM in different locations. I also tried all possible RAM sticks. The machine started without any RAM and stayed on after a few seconds. I unplugged all extra devices and removed the monitor. The only guess is the motherboard was damaged. I’m considering a case speaker later if I can’t fix it. Good news: I was hoping to upgrade soon after the Ryzen 7000 series release, but it’s disappointing I can’t get it until then.
It seems you're looking to test another system for RAM compatibility. If the issue persists, it might be related to your motherboard or the RAM itself.
I'll grab a stick when I pick up the case speaker tonight. It's not entirely sure it will help without the ram, but I'll give it a shot. I don't have another system to check the ram.
You've handled everything properly, but have you updated the BIOS? It's possible it wasn't the problem, yet you should still give it a try.
I just changed my 1000w power supply to the old 650w version and everything functioned properly. Then I swapped it back and it still worked fine. All the RAM is also operational.
