Hello everyone!, I’m looking for assistance. I attempted to upgrade my system with two new RAM sticks (8GB each, XMP 3200, Model: XPG Z1 DDR4). The issue started when I tried booting with the new sticks and the computer entered an endless loop. After that, using a single new stick worked—I could access BIOS at 2666 MHz. Then I switched to 3200 MHz and it launched properly. I also tried 2400 MHz with two new sticks, which worked fine. However, I’m stuck trying to reach BIOS with the old RAM (2400) and one of the new ones. I changed the profile to 3200, restarted, and it booted into Windows with the new stick. Now I’m trying to get to 3200 MHz again but can’t enter BIOS with the current setup. I prefer 16GB with higher speed over 24GB, but I can’t access BIOS with the new configuration. I cleared CMOS, changed RAM channels (1-3, 2-4, etc.), but still can’t get into BIOS consistently. I want to run at 3200 MHz, not 2400. I don’t mind using less memory if it improves performance. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I believe 2933mhz is the optimal CPU frequency controlled by the memory manager. Above this point you'll need to overclock. Improve performance by applying XMP settings, but also manually set the clock to 2933mhz. After testing, verify the results. Then navigate to BIOS and increase the next setting to 3000mhz. Run the test again and confirm. If stability issues appear, revert to the lower frequency and maintain that setting. Running at 3200mhz isn't guaranteed.

The task manager lists 24GB, and the CPUID and Hwinfo match. I'm unsure why the second stick worked sometimes while others didn't. I also question updating the BIOS. The ASRock website advises against it if you have a Pinnacle, Raven or Summit Ridge CPU. The Rizen 5 2600x is labeled as Pinnacle.

Don't worry about choosing the newest release—any BIOS before the 3000 support revision works fine.

Since you already have an update 3.90 installed, there are two more updates available. My experience suggests revisiting the BIOS if you encounter issues like system recognition problems, especially after upgrading hardware such as SSDs. It’s a good idea to check compatibility before proceeding.

Only for the latest bios version 4.10 which uses the same Agesa code that supports your chip. Avoid the 4.20 update since it introduces new Agesa features—worthless risk of losing support. Although I suspect you won’t, it’s safer to let a professional handle it. Past experiences have shown me this isn’t worth taking. You should decide yourself if you want to update or not.

I revised the BIOS 4.10 update. No issues encountered; the original issue remains unchanged. I applied identical techniques and still faced the same outcome. Used the Ryzen memory calculator with the same inputs, but results stayed consistent. Thanks!
