It wouldn’t work unless the internal hard drive is placed according to the boot sequence. Which motherboard model do you have? You’ll likely want to check the manual—it’s usually available online and should show the BIOS screens for comparison.

I activated CSM support on the Gigabyte B650 AORUS PRO AX and gained four distinct boot choices. However, starting from any of these still results in a blank display marked by an underscore.

Checking page 34 should provide the information you're seeking. Activating the device and pressing f12 repeatedly will likely trigger a specific response or behavior.

F12 navigates to the boot menu, displaying various startup choices. However, trying to load any of these causes a completely empty display with an underscore noted earlier

I wonder if the issue lies with the case port. Perhaps turning off the machine completely—either by switching off the PSU or unplugging it—might help. Insert your USB drive into the back panel and attempt to boot. If that fails, I’d consider shutting down, removing the existing installation key, creating a fresh one with a different USB drive, and connecting it to another port on the back. This shouldn’t cause problems, though it’s confusing so I’m assuming something is off. To set up Windows, download the ISO file and use Rufus (a free app) to convert the new USB drive into a bootable installation disk. The back port should work without the case. With an AM5 motherboard, the BIOS should be current, but your motherboard includes QFlash.

I tried installing Windows using several flash drives, various installation techniques like Rufus, and every available USB port on the system. Still, the problem persists.

Additionally, I tried to flash the BIOS, but it stalls during the process, pausing before a complete update. A manual reboot is required to restore full functionality.

I believed you’d only attempted it with the model that functioned in other devices. With two motherboards, it’s unlikely an M.2 was installed incorrectly more than once.

Just checking if I'm missing anything about what might be wrong here.

The only thing that comes to mind is the M.2 installation issue, which seems improbable.
