Assembled a new PC and am dealing with driver problems. AMD Ryzen 7 7700X installed on an ASROCK B650 Live Mixed with 32GB RAM and a 4070ti. Running a fresh Windows 11 (22H2) install using the newest nVidia drivers (536.67). Issues mainly occur during gaming, but also appear in a stress test. Restarted in safe mode, used DDU to remove drivers, reinstalled them, yet problems persist. In the Event Viewer I see all chipset drivers up to date, BIOS defaults, no overclocking detected. Any suggestions on next steps? I’ve double-checked the GPU and PCIe extensions are properly seated, power connectors tight. It doesn’t really matter whether I’m idle or gaming—it often ends with a black screen or a restart. Last update: Power Management Mode changed to maximum performance in Nvidia Control Panel, settings saved. Previously tried 536.40 drivers but results unchanged.

Consider using older drivers as a backup. However, your GPU might require a vBIOS update from the manufacturer. If that's the case, it could be a hardware issue. You may want to return the item and purchase a new one. Avoid exchanges unless necessary, as they often don't reset return periods in many areas. Check local regulations and store policies.

Thank you for the input. Australian consumer rules are quite strict, so a return will reset the warranty (confirmed from memory). PNY only offers vBIOS for their 4080 and 4090 models; the 4070ti isn’t covered. I’ll test older drivers first before labeling it a hardware fault. I’ll also run a GPU stress test on Linux to check for any unusual behavior. From what I found, some users are using the 12VHPWR cable with similar problems on 40 Series cards, so I’ll try the PNY-provided 12VHPWR cable instead of my Cablemod version and compare results. Also, I’ll follow the suggested power profile adjustments mentioned in that Reddit post.
