New pc keeps restarting repeatedly
Hello,
Here are the details of my system so you can understand exactly what parts are connected.
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
Cooler: Peerless Assassin 120 ARGB
Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI (BIOS version 1.J2)
Graphics Card: Zotac RTX 4070 SUPER
Storage: Samsung SSD 990 Pro 2TB M.2
Memory: G.Skill F5-60000J3038F16G 2x16GB
Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 V2 Full Modular
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Home (x64) Build 22631.3737 (23H2)
The problem is that my PC frequently crashes during certain activities, especially when playing Diablo 4 and Warframe, with Diablo being the worst. It usually stops playtime for just 10 to 30 minutes. I haven’t tested many other games, but it doesn’t crash when idle or while using YouTube casually.
I’m not sure if the crashes are due to a specific action or simply a sudden reboot. Looking at the Windows Event Viewer, the only error before each crash is a kernel power error with ID 41, which points to an unexpected reboot. There doesn’t seem to be a consistent sequence of errors leading up to these restarts.
The troubleshooting steps I’ve tried so far include:
- Verifying all connections
- Reinstalling everything from games to Windows
- Formatting drives and reinstalling
- Toggling EXPO
- Undervolting the CPU
- Using various settings from online threads (memory context restore, BIOS tweaks, in-game adjustments like disabling DLSS in Diablo)
Stress testing with tools such as Prime95, 3DMark, Userbenchmark, Y-Cruncher, Memtest86, Cinebench R23, and Furmark didn’t produce any errors, and temperatures remained normal.
I’ve also reseated all components and double-checked connections.
In my previous PC (old CPU, motherboard, RAM), the issue disappeared, suggesting the problem might be with the CPU, RAM, or motherboard.
I’m still trying to remember if I missed something, but I think I’ve been working on this for several days now.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
Are you currently using a high resolution texture pack in D4? There was a Reddit discussion about this and reboots, and the person who posted it seems to have stopped rebooting after uninstalling it.

It’s been a year now, though—uncertain if drivers or patches for D4 have since fixed that problem.
If high resolution textures are the issue, then it depends on whether you have them installed (and whether your other PCs also use them). We could investigate further.
