New PC just got 3 months old!
Hello! I recently purchased a new PC a few months ago. It functions perfectly, except for one fan from the case that occasionally causes random issues. Recently, it started making loud noises and spinning slowly multiple times. The case is a Corsair Carbide 175RGB. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? I opened the side panel and the fan works fine at startup but slows down when it makes the strange sounds.
Is the front panel fan really turning slowly when you look at it? Likely it’s failing. It’s a typical fan, so swapping it should be straightforward. The front panel detaches using clips on either side (you’ll need to take off both side panels) and gives easy access to the fan. I own the same case, and the original fan has never made any sound, having worked for nearly three years. If you decide to replace it, you could install another RGB fan in that position (if you prefer the lighting) or opt for a more affordable non-RGB model instead. I’ve turned off the RGB lighting on mine because the computer sits on the floor.
Are you certain there aren't any loose wires blocking the fan? I’d remove it from the case, check it, run it through the fan circuit again (like connecting it to a fan header), and if it continues to act that way, swap it out or follow the warranty.
Hello! It seems to move quite slowly when you're there in person. But only during that awful noise. I'm not super tech-savvy, but I'll give it a shot later today after work. The tricky part is that I can play for days without anything, then suddenly it starts acting up again. At least it used to work before a reboot would fix it for a while.
