Hello friends, I need some assistance. I own a Western Digital Elements external USB 3.0 drive—a compact one you can tuck in your pocket. I have a brand new Windows 11 gaming PC and an old Sony Vaio laptop both running Windows 11 Pro, both updated to the latest version (24H2). When I plug the WD external drive into the old laptop, it works right and I can access it in File Explorer. But on my new PC, it makes a connection beep, shows the USB icon in the system tray, yet the drive doesn’t show up in Windows File Explorer. Can anyone have experienced this? What did they do to fix it?

Verify the drive is listed in Disk Management. Occasionally Windows fails to allocate a letter, causing it to disappear from Explorer.

I fixed it successfully! I hadn't realized it was showing up in Disk Management. I clicked right-click, gave it a drive letter, and now it appears in Explorer. Appreciate the help!
