Looking for guidance on assembling a personal computer for basic video editing. I'm looking to avoid buying pre-built systems that limit upgrades and prefer something durable that fits my needs. I'm not into gaming, so I don't require powerful hardware or excessive lighting. Please share any suggestions you have. I'm flexible with the budget but want something reliable and suited for my intended purpose. I'm not familiar with the latest tech, which is why I'm seeking recommendations.

I need:
- An ATX case
- A suitable motherboard
- An Intel I7 processor (air cooled)
- At least 16 GB RAM
- Storage options: OS drive (min 1 TB), data drive (2 TB); M2 SSD would be ideal
- HDMI and DisplayPort connections
- Video output or a decent low-end graphics card
- At least three USB ports on the front
- Built-in sound functionality acceptable

Thank you!

This setup would be ideal for those seeking the highest performance level. The system would remain functional for many years, offering upgrade opportunities thanks to its excellent PSU and motherboard with solid warranties. The 1TB drive supports all your tasks, while the 4TB drive is perfect for storing projects, games, and long-term data. I chose a black and white theme for this build, as it looks visually appealing.

If you're not gaming, it could be a good idea to look into a Ryzen CPU paired with integrated graphics. I've used a Ryzen 3 3200G for about three years handling video editing, image work, streaming, and browsing—perfect performance for that workload. The only issue was during gaming, where FPS dropped significantly due to the lack of strong internal graphics. Since you mentioned you don’t plan on gaming, it would simply mean you wouldn’t need a dedicated GPU right away. Here’s a suggested build using a Ryzen 5 5600G, which offers better CPU performance with integrated graphics. I’ve chosen a decent motherboard, a 1TB M.2 drive, and a case with ample space for future upgrades. Plenty of storage is expected for video editing tasks.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE AX Micro ATX AM4
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (maybe more is better for editing)
Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280
Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
PSU: Corsair RM850e (2023) 850W 80+ Gold

This setup should meet your needs now and allow for future enhancements.
