New PC build with red DRAM indicator, no screen, no sound.
Hello everyone.
I just completed a fresh PC build, this is my first from scratch in a long time. Once everything was assembled, I noticed a red DRAM indicator, no display, and no beeps. The CPU light was also present before but disappeared after re-seating it.
I think I've already checked most of the common fixes—verified power cables, re-seated memory, confirmed slots were correct, removed the CMOS battery (no reset button).
All components are new except the power supply, which is about a year old. I've used an older graphics card before and got similar results. Since my last PC is from 1 or 2 generations ago, I don't have spare parts to swap out.
Specs: CPU - Intel Core I7 13700KF, Motherboard - ASRock Z790 LGA 1700 ATX, GPU - ASRock Radeon RX 7800XT 16 GB, RAM - 2x16 GSkill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6400, Storage - Nextorage Japan 2TB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe gen4 SSD, Cooling - MSI Mag Coreliquid c 360 liquid cooler, PSU - EVGA 850 B5 80+ Bronze 850W.
Any suggestions?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! The rams are filling in slots A2 and B2. Check the CPU socket for any bent or damaged pins. Gently adjust the mounting pressure on the AIO by turning the screws 90 degrees counterclockwise.
I've tested both a2 and b2 configurations, paired setups, and single units. I was concerned about bent pins but hoped the CPU light wasn't the problem since it turned off. I used both the AIO version and removed it completely, getting the same outcome. Since the motherboard is brand new, would they replace it for this situation? I didn't tamper with it, so I'm unsure if that's how it ended up. Thanks for the advice.
