New PC build experiences random freezes even when using BIOS.
Hi everyone, I recently installed a new computer and encountered some issues. It froze unexpectedly, even when accessing the BIOS, which required me to use the case reset button to restart. On Windows 10, I can still move the mouse and see the cursor, toggle tabs with alt+tab, and select windows, but double-clicking a file fails. When it freezes in BIOS, I can still move the mouse and see the cursor, but there’s no click or selection function for the keyboard. The PC chassis RGB lights also freeze. I’ve tested different RAM configurations, including with and without XMP support, and even tried other RAM sticks, but the problem persists. I ran an OCCT stress test and found no issues. It seems to happen 2 to 4 times per hour or over 30 hours without freezing. I’m not sure how to resolve this.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Use just one RAM stick at a time to test if it affects freezing.
And keep an eye on Reliability History and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or informational events that might happen before or during the freezes.
Also:
Turn off, unplug, and open the case.
Check visually and by touch that all connections, cards, RAM, and jumpers are securely positioned.
No one likes forcing a connection or insertion on a new build. What seems tight or correctly placed might actually be loose.
Consider a complete reset of all connections and seatings. Gently rock them into position to confirm everything is properly seated.
I reviewed the event log and confirmed there were no major issues.
Attempted to reinstall everything, but the problem persisted.
Are you increasing performance beyond recommended limits? Pause and assess whether the system remains stable.
