Recent AMD 5950x users have reported stability problems and extreme temperature fluctuations. Some experienced overheating during idle, reaching high temps like 70°C while running apps such as Steam. Another issue involved instability under load, causing the system to lock up. Despite these challenges, many feel it’s worth the price at that performance level.

Have you checked for any BIOS updates on the motherboards? I’ve installed 5800 and 5900 builds over the last couple of months, and each required a BIOS update to work correctly.

We’re both your motherboard brands—Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte with Ryzen.

It was quite disappointing. I spend a lot of time on 3D projects in Blender, and my 9700K sometimes struggles. I’m curious if AMD might be facing some quality control problems at the moment.

Didn't adjust any BIOS settings. High stock performance on Ryzen chips is common and typical.

Everything you mentioned seems typical when using affordable or standard coolers.

It doesn't appear typical, yet it doesn't seem risky either.

I agree, but the $800 price tag and needing two issues really discouraged me. I might have stayed at the microcenter since I own around 350 of them, which makes me think they’re getting tougher to keep up. It raises concerns about quality control. Blender will likely have to handle my 9700k for a while longer, probably.

Because you mentioned the 5950x succeeded, it’s safe to proceed. Using it shouldn’t pose any risks for your PC.
