Adjusting the M.2 link speed may affect performance. Explore various configurations before installing Windows. Once set up, you should be able to revert to automatic settings and start using the drive normally.
Disable Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) and change the controller to ACHI/NVMe mode instead of RAID. This should activate automatically when RST is turned off. Test if this achieves your goal. If successful, please note it as a solution for others.
Haha, thank you, but it's just knowing that RAID generally requires drivers for the Windows boot media to be able to see the drive. Normally you have to load them manually during the install process. I wouldn't. It will likely switch it back to RAID mode and Windows will no longer boot... there's also a chance it cause Windows to try to repair itself and jack up your install. In addition, with only one drive, you don't need Intel RST or RAID. It doesn't really do anything for you. So it's not like you're missing out on performance or anything. If you're like: "But I want Intel RST on!" (for whatever reason) Then I would say you'll want to install Windows and load the Intel RST driver during install so Windows can see the drive.
