Hello everyone, I just set up my new motherboard, CPU, power supply, and RAM but am stuck in BIOS. It seems there are several problems, yet I can't resolve them. Mobo: I used an ASUS Prime Z690M with an Intel i5-12600k, 2x16GB DDR4 RAM, and a 1200W power supply. The system reports all devices detected during startup, but no bootable drives are found and the CSM option isn't available. If I start the setup, the machine shuts down and takes about a minute to come back online. I'm still unsure if I should leave everything connected or unplug more components. As a beginner, I'm really confused.

Confirm your boot drive is properly linked and set as the startup option in your system settings. Ensure it’s recognized by the BIOS for a smooth boot process.

The SSD with my latest Windows 10 is properly connected and recognized, though it appears as storage rather than a drive. It's a Samsung SSD 850 Pro 1TB. The installation seems up to date based on what I observed. There was no update prompt when I swapped out the old motherboard.

The SSD with Windows 10 isn't set as the boot drive in the BIOS. The system shows another drive as the boot option.

No drive was selected and there are no choices for which disk the machine boots from. The device can recognize the SSD but isn’t reading it as a bootable drive even though it holds my Windows install. I’m planning to attempt a boot from USB now, but can’t do that today, so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow.

It's unusual—most systems have a BIOS setting to pick the boot device or rearrange them.

previously it occurred to me my NVMe was a bit unstable, and using USB increases the likelihood of unexpected issues.
