New motherboard and CPU - black screen issue, BIOS update not functioning?
Before updating the BIOS, I attempted to boot into BIOS with my 5700X3D and it behaved similarly, suggesting the hardware might already be non-functional from the start. I also considered if static electricity could have caused issues. I was constantly handling the PC case but might have accidentally triggered a problem. These components were part of my earlier setup with an i9-9900K for at least three years. They seem to be from the same model and chip.
It's difficult to pinpoint the exact issue honestly. The problem might have started with memory, followed by a faulty BIOS flash or several other factors.
Intel chips appear to handle memory better than AMD. I’m still using a 9900k, which has been quite reliable. It’s been a solid chip.
Checking the ram kit models shows similar designs but different version numbers. Usually, when Corsair updates their kits, they change the chips, so there could be a mismatch.
I own an older system with an AMD 3600 and have mixed Corsair Vengeance kits at 3000 c15; it works fine. Sometimes luck helps, but until you find a known working motherboard and CPU, it’s tough to determine.
I’ll check if it can identify the chips in those modules while I’m at it.
It's nice to hear that. The 9900K has been helpful, but I've started facing bottlenecks.
Thanks for checking, I'll look into new motherboards and try to secure one.
I plan to bring back both the CPU and the motherboard—I already have the latter on eBay, so I should be able to return it if they advertised it as open box.
From this perspective, version 4.32 uses Samsung C die while version 5.32 uses Hynix, as I found online. The 9900k is showing its age in some newer titles; admittedly, at 1440p she still performs well with my 4070 super. An upgrade will occur later this year, though I’ll miss her. Consider what options you have for returning the items. It might be worth thinking about switching to a different platform altogether, even if it’s expensive. A Ryzen 7600 could be a good starting point. You could also try the 12700k with an DDR4 motherboard and keep your RAM in. Two sticks should work, possibly all four, but it’s a risk.
I finally received my new motherboard. After trying various RAM and CPUs, I thought it might be the issue with the board itself. Once installed, everything functions properly! Thank you for your assistance.
