Hey everyone,
Just started this project and really appreciate any advice you can offer.
After extensive research, I assembled a gaming-focused build for my family. It includes:
MSI B450 Tomahawk
Ryzen 5 2600
16GB Team Group 3000mhz RAM
1TB Team Group SSD
2TB Hitachi HDD (for game storage)
Corsair 550 watt PSU
RX580 8GB
Cooler Master Hyper212 Evo
Cooler Master Master Box 5 Lite case
Plus two extra static pressure fans for intake.
It began shutting down completely during Fortnite gameplay. I checked various forums and found two main possibilities:
1. Temperature issues
2. Power supply unit
I performed a CPU, memory, and GPU stress test using Aida64 for over 20 minutes with no problems. Maximum temperatures stayed below 80°C throughout.
It might be that the power supply is faulty, though I’m not sure.
The system was built about ten days ago using brand new parts, all drivers and BIOS updated.
Only Fortnite seems to cause this behavior—other factors don’t appear to matter.
Any suggestions?

Is it merely crashing, showing a BSOD, or shutting down? If it's crashing, does any error appear or does it simply close to the desktop? If a BSOD occurs, what is the cause indicated? If it's shutting down and temperatures are normal, the PSU might be the issue.

Total shutdown. No blue screen. Only a black screen with fans stopping, etc.

Verify the RAM, maybe it isn't operating on xmp. Also attempt configuring the PSU to work on one rail. I used a Corsair 1000watt PSU that caused power problems when using dual rail and led to shutdowns during unexpected events. My specific PSU has a USB port that lets me adjust its settings via the Corsair control software.

RAM is operating at 2933 and has successfully passed several Aida64 tests. However, I noticed after buying the RAM that it wasn't included in the QVL list on MSI's website. I initially overclocked the CPU to 4.0ghz with auto CPU voltage, and it worked well. A light GPU overclock also performed stably. After resetting everything back to defaults, the issue only occurred with Fornite. We've played many other games for hours without any problems. It's quite strange.

I haven't tried that yet, but I'll.
I'm struggling to figure out how the machine manages to run those stress tests so smoothly—Aida64, Cinebench, 3dMark, Heaven Benchmark, and many others—yet it crashes when I try them? That's really confusing!
