New model (ASUS B650M-A WIFI ii) will access BIOS only when no RAM is present in slots A1 or B2
ASUS B650M-A WIFI ii paired with Ryzen 5 7600x, Corsair RM850e, WD SN850X M.2 SSD, and 16GBX2 Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz RAM. BIOS is up to date (version 2613). When using slots A2 and B2 exclusively, everything functions normally and appears correctly in BIOS. I've repositioned the CPU and cooler multiple times without noticing any issues on the pins. I also adjusted the cooler tension and tried lowering it further. The manual specifies A2 for one stick, A2 and B2 for two sticks, and all four slots are acceptable. It doesn't restrict configurations to just those numbers. I attempted a CMOS reset using both the jumper and battery removal method, but nothing changed. Regarding the board’s intended setup: possible causes include a defective CPU, a faulty motherboard (possibly RAM slots), a damaged motherboard pin I can’t locate, or simply compatibility issues with the parts available in my area.
I'm out of reach of a computer store, so I have to handle this via ASUS returns or by purchasing a replacement.
No video signal and no status light appears on the SN850x SSD when inserting RAM in A1 or B1. With only two sticks available, it's not possible to test filling A2 and B2 before adding one to A1 or B1. The system functions correctly without using A1 or B1.
You're unsure about the recommendation regarding RAM placement. It's important to note that putting RAM in a not-recommended configuration can lead to problems, such as the one described. Generally, using more than two sticks is discouraged, so even if certain slots aren't functioning, it shouldn't cause major issues.
I didn’t expect this, I only realized it by chance and unsure if it’s normal or there’s an issue. It would be simpler to return it if I’d purchased it this week, rather than after a year or two when upgrading RAM and finding the other slots aren’t functioning.
faulty but it doesnt actually matter anyways as you dont wanna be running quad stick 6000 should still be fine if dual rank (4x16/4x24) but quad rank for 128gb and 192gb (4x32/4x48) have fun trying to reach 6000, dunno how capable the boards themselves are for dual rank quad stick >6000 cause noone seems to have tested that yet and probs gonna have to wait for next gen apus to get a competent imc but id assume itd probably not be that good (might struggle to get past 7000 even with a competent imc)
