New laptop issue: 'Windows wasn't closed correctly'
I've received a new Lenovo IdeaPad laptop for roughly a week, but today the startup time is noticeably longer than usual. I frequently see the message 'Windows was not properly shut down' in the reliability history. I recall this issue occurring on Windows 11 with another Lenovo device last year, which resolved itself, though it happened only once or twice in a day. Should I consider returning the laptop? The device functions normally, turning off when I click 'shutdown' from the start menu. I'm a bit puzzled and would appreciate some guidance! Thanks.
Which Lenovo laptop is it?
Have you tried running their driver updater to check if you're current?
What information does the technical details screen display when you click it?
I’m curious about which Windows update didn’t work, while others seem fine.
I really dislike that gameinput feature—it keeps happening on my computer too.
It's the IdeaPad Slim 5.
Everything is up to date. It all began last night, remained stable for the past week.
The update that failed was installed shortly after.
When I access technical details, it states:
The previous system shutdown at 3:41:02 PM on 11/22/2023 was unexpected.
Thanks.
why do you look in there after every start?
I hate the place, you can think PC is working fine and then look in there and its all red dots
oh look, that update failed on mine as well
I have a problem but windows can't see it. So that screen is no use to me. Still prefer to be at 10 (I don't mean windows 10).
Unless you can tell the PC is shutting down when it shouldn't be, I would ignore it.
I wasn't checking there after every restart; it's just that when the laptop takes a moment to load, I suspect it might not have closed properly. Cheers, I'll just overlook it.
