I opened the Y50 roughly three hours ago and have completed several steps: installed Windows 8.1, activated it, applied 160 updates through Windows Update, fetched about two-thirds of the content from the Lenovo support site, installed half of the recommended drivers, used Ninite.com to get Firefox, AVG, 7-zip, IrfanView, VLC and Skype, installed the Nvidia Driver, fixed a crash related to the Nvidia Driver, and set up half of my bookmarks. What else might I be missing?

Set up the games. Delete any unnecessary apps, remove superfish? REMINDER: Steam is essential.

Steam will arrive eventually. Superfish is no longer available, and I've set up my own Windows version—no OEM purchase.
