Hi everyone, just received a fresh set of parts for my PC: Ryzen 5 5600X, MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus, Corsair Vengeance PRO DDR4 3600 MHz CMW16GX4M2D3600C18. I was using an OCZ 750W PSU and an Radeon RX 580 GPU, and I’m sure those components work perfectly in my old system. Once everything was installed, I noticed a strange screen display when I pressed the power button, and the PC immediately launched into BIOS setup. This behavior has never happened before, and I’m puzzled about what might be causing it. The debug LED doesn’t light up except during boot, and everything is visible in the BIOS—Ryzen and DDR4 are updated to the latest versions. Could it be that the DDR4 isn’t working well with the motherboard or the Ryzen? I found a link to MSI support for this model, but I couldn’t locate the specific serial number on their site before purchasing. It’s important to note that memory compatibility depends on the CPU’s memory controller. I’m unsure what to do now since all parts were ordered online and I don’t have another DDR4 for comparison. Should I return everything to the supplier?

Only the Corsair Z3600C18 supports Ryzen properly. Z is optimized for Ryzen processors. I avoid outdated OCZ power supplies since they’re not reliable. The latest models are over eight years old and have poor build quality. Could you clarify the exact model?
psu model: OCZ-ZS750W-EU, approximately ten years ago, still functional with the old window setup now running, confirming everything works properly
Hello, I’ve been through a bit of a reset after a six-year hiatus with micro-computing and gaming. I’m sharing what’s been effective for me since returning, as the experience hasn’t been ideal. I’m not using Vengeance Pro; instead, LPX handled all those BSODs—like pings to ntfs.sys or IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL. Just ignore the new XMP features—they’re mostly fluff. On paper they sound good, but what you actually need is something simple once you figure it out.
For my Corsair DDR4 running at 3600MHz OC, the XMP profile for Bank Cycle Time (tRC) didn’t suit me well. It suggested 82, but the ideal was 64. Even though it didn’t fix everything immediately, it let me boot Windows and avoided BSODs when stressing RAM through apps.
Instead of relying on XMP, set the specs manually using CPU-Z’s recommendations and keep the rest auto. This method works for my setup.
Upgrade the DDR voltage to 1.4 (instead of 1.35) and adjust VSOC to 1.1. Set the command rate to 1T Gear Down—if that doesn’t work, try 2T (it may add some latency but improves stability).
I couldn’t get raw 1T with four sticks, but two sticks at 4x8 worked better than two at 16. Hope this helps a few people.
P.S.: Did the changes show up directly in the BIOS settings, not just through AMD Overclocking? I’m not sure about Intel, but it should be consistent.
PS2: With these adjustments, I can turn XMP on or off and both pass Memtest86. But there’s no advantage to leaving it enabled.
