New installations are running smoothly but experiencing unusually high idle temperatures.
Good morning, yesterday I performed a new Windows 7 installation on my computer.
While visiting the website to download drivers and similar updates, I observed several issues.
It seems my overclocking was removed and my idle temperatures increased significantly.
My current overclock is not very high; it's an i7 2600k running at 4.5 with a core voltage around 1.280 vcore.
This morning the overclock disappeared, the Vcore spiked, and the temperatures were much higher (about 38 idle with a Noctua fan).
I suspect the Vcore issue is the problem, as it reached 1.4 idle at some point. I also noticed that some users reported better temperatures after updating their BIOS.
Could a fresh Windows install reset the BIOS or are these two components not connected?
The rest of the setup:
i7 2600k @ 4.5
Asus P8p67 LE
16 gigabytes RAM Kingston
