I tried several methods: navigating to "This PC," managing drives, right-clicking, creating partitions, assigning a letter via Computer Management, and checking the This PC window. The drive appeared but wasn't recognized as an accessible location. When double-clicked, it prompted for formatting, which took too long and didn’t complete. I need help making this drive accessible. Thanks!

What CPU and SSD model are you using? You can also test with a third-party utility. The Mini Tool Partition Wizard is your preferred option—download the free version.

What was the cost of your SSD purchase? If you found a great offer, I’d double-check to ensure it’s genuine. Also, feel free to reach out to the seller—this drive isn’t an inexpensive item.

Hi @Levent, I own a fresh ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E motherboard and a brand new SAMSUNG 870 QVO SATA III SSD. Please note this is not the OS or program drive or cache. When I right-click a drive in "This PC" and navigate to hardware, the Samsung 870 appears listed.

You accessed Disk Management to install the SSD. Clicked on This PC, then Manage, Computer Management, and Disk Management. The new drive should appear as "Unallocated Space" initially. You’ll need to initialize and format it (with a partition) before it’s ready for use.

Hi @-rascal- , indeed I did. This is a new system and I installed a total of 3 drives. The first drive, C, obviously showed up and worked great, I initialized the second disk, picked a drive letter, and away I went, and tried the same thing with the third drive, it said it was healthy under Disk Management, but when I looked at "This PC" I could not access the drive, Windows told me I needed to format it. I quick formatted the drive, gave it a letter, but after 2 hours it never finished the format. Is there any way I could start the entire initialization process over again and start from scratch?

It was quite unusual! I postponed coming back to work over the weekend, and this time everything went smoothly. Thanks everyone!
