New installation - Solid-state drive not detected by BIOS
My friend bought an MSI X870-P with a Ryzen 9600X, WD SN580 Gen4 SSD, and GTX 1080 from an older system. The problem is the BIOS doesn’t see the SSD in the main M2_1 slot—it shows up in the M2_2 slot. No other drives are connected, and it’s using UEFI boot. They changed the PCIe mode to Gen4 and updated the BIOS, but it still doesn’t recognize the SSD. Any suggestions?
Have you checked if the chipset driver and firmware have been updated?
He has previously installed an older NVME drive in slot 1 and it functions properly there. This indicates the board and SSD are working correctly, but they don't integrate well when placed in slot 1. Next steps are unclear. The product is marked as compatible on the MSI website.
