Hello, I own a new Rog Strix Z490 gaming rig. It doesn’t seem to recognize my two HyperX Predator Dram memory sticks. The manual says to insert them into the DIMM A2* and DIMM B2* slots, which I did. I’ve also tried swapping them and testing different frequencies. On startup, the GPU fans spin for about 30 seconds before stopping, and the Q-Led on the motherboard lights up indicating a Dram issue. No output appears on the screen during that time. Recently I checked the GPU itself—it looks fine. The RGB lights work, but only the GPU stops after roughly 30 seconds. Any advice would be appreciated; thank you for your help.

Hello, welcome! It's great to be here. The new parts include a rog strix z490 E gaming, HyperX predator 2x16GB, Intel i7 11700K, Fractal Design Ion+ 760P, and an Intel SSD6 1024GB. The old components are a NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti and a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. Thanks for the advice and I'll begin using them.

The RAM lights up a bit after the fans, which seems typical.

Nothing seems off with the CPU. I cleared COMS and tried with one stick, but it still doesn't work. I think my parts should function together—any concerns? I noticed another user mentioned needing drivers for the Dram to be recognized. Does RAM require drivers to operate? After checking, it looks like the RGB needs drivers too. The forum person might have referred to motherboard drivers, but it was a bit confusing. Any thoughts on whether RAM needs drivers?

You made some headway but ended up in a more serious situation. It looks like you needed to install a BIOS update for the motherboard. After completing the update, the PC would power on and off several times before shutting down completely. When trying to start it, nothing appears. The RGB lights still work when power is applied. It’s unclear whether you should keep going—please let someone with experience help.
