New installation - CPU light is on but system doesn't start?
Hi, here’s the update:
I assembled the PC with the MSI A320M Gaming Pro, Ryzen 5 5500, Kingston Savage 2800MHz 2x, and EVGA Supernova 750W Gold.
After updating the BIOS to the latest beta version using a Ryzen 3 1200, it functioned properly for tests like superposition and heaven.
However, I stored it on my shelf for about 4-5 days before testing again. The PC didn’t respond, showing no signal, with the CPU stuck and no boot.
I attempted to use an older Ryzen 3 CPU, tried various RAM kits, reset the CMOS, used different GPUs (GTX1650), other Corsair PSUs, etc., but nothing worked. It kept stuck on the CPU LED.
I also checked a speaker from an older machine for any beep codes, but found none.
The CPU cooler was removed, and the CPU felt cold—no heating up either.
Any thoughts on what might have caused this issue?
I updated the BIOS to the latest beta version using a Ryzen 3 1200, as recommended on the support page—it was required for the Ryzen 5 5500.
For consistency, it would help to note the BIOS version you're running.
No problems occurred; the system stuck at the CPU loading screen.
If the processor is brand new, try moving it onto another known working motherboard with the correct BIOS version to test.
I also used a speaker from an older machine to check for any beep codes, but found none.
Removing the cooler revealed the CPU was cold and wasn’t heating up at all.
This suggests the CPU may have failed if it isn’t warming properly. Alternatively, the motherboard might be faulty—this can be confirmed by testing it on another board.
Just a note: avoid pairing Ryzen 5000 series chips with basic entry-level boards that have weak VRM design.
