New installation appears with black display during Windows update or manual graphics driver adjustment
Hello everyone, I recently upgraded my PC and am facing some driver problems. I’m using an MSI Z790 carbon with a 13900k, except for the Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT 65.57 CFM liquid cooler. The system runs fine after installation, but Windows doesn’t recognize my graphics card and shows it as unknown. I suspect the issue is due to missing PCIE drivers, though I haven’t addressed that yet. Right now, I’m just trying to update all base drivers manually, downloading them from MSI’s website for the Z790 carbon via USB. If I connect to the internet, I get a black screen after a few minutes; otherwise, Windows works without updates for over 30 minutes on basic graphics settings. I assume this is related to Windows updates. When I reach the integrated graphics driver, it starts installing but then turns black after a short wait. Do I need to install drivers in a specific sequence? In BIOS, the graphics option is set to IGA, which should allow booting from integrated graphics. Also, I’ve already flashed the latest 1.5 BIOS from MSI.
can you check for any dust/ improper contact from the GPU or RAM or maybe try remounting the CPU? there is no reason windows would install unstable drivers, though try installing some older drivers that are conformed to be stable? one reason for your crashing can be the RAM, maybe your CPU just cant take the overclock or the MOBO drivers are not up to date for this RAM kit?
It looks good after installing the NVIDIA driver instead of the Intel HD driver. The Windows update completed successfully. Now I just need to run some benchmarks to check for any problems.
