New home need advise
Hello everyone! I’m getting ready to move into my new home in May and am testing the boundaries of my current setup. I’m aiming for top-tier switches and networking equipment. I need roughly 30 ports with gigabyte speeds, ideally some running at 10Gbps if possible. At least four SFPD ports or more would be great, and ideally QSFPD ports for 40GbE. I run servers and file storage, so a solid backbone is essential. I’m comfortable buying used as long as the software is up-to-date, and I’m willing to learn. My main network cabinet is downstairs, connecting almost everything, with a fiber uplink to my office—where all computers and four servers are located. The area is quiet but not spacious enough for everything. So far, I’ve selected a Dell N1548P, a Cisco C3850, and a Brocade ICX6610-48. Prices are around $95, $120, and $150 respectively.
Ubiquiti offers quality gear suitable for home and small professional applications. Their older models are occasionally available for purchase.
