It might look a bit mixed up, but most GPUs come with x16 because of the motherboard slot, including the 5060. On the 5060 and 5060ti only half of the connection is used. It’s not an issue with PCIe 4 or 5, but it can limit bandwidth on a PCIe 3 system with just 8 lanes. I’d also suggest the 9060xt 16gb if you have the budget. It gives solid performance, full 16 lanes, and works well at 1080p. I usually upgrade GPUs with both current and future capabilities in mind, so your system stays capable over time.

When comparing a 5060ti to a 9600xt, inspecting the slot pins reveals wire connections. On the back side of the pins in the 5060ti, there is no wiring present.

The 5060 TI maintains better performance compared to the 5060 and 5060 TI 8GB models, though some issues might still arise. You could potentially upgrade to a 5060 TI with 16GB memory and still function adequately, and there are likely methods to address the problems until you move to a newer system.

Fixing performance problems with the RTX 5060 cards would mainly involve switching to an AMD 500 series motherboard, which supports PCIe 4.0 with Ryzen 3000X/5000X processors, and using a minimum of a 5700x or 5700x3d card. However, this option is currently quite costly.

Once you reach that stage, investing in a full platform upgrade to a budget Zen 4/5 Ryzen 5 CPU—such as the 7500f or 7600 non x—or even better, an 8-core or x3d processor, could be more practical. You might also find better deals when Zen 6 becomes available, though this is expected to happen at the end of next year or possibly early 2027.
