New Elder Scrolls 3 Player Help
I’ve spent approximately forty hours across two characters playing Morrowind, having previously played Skyrim for over a thousand hours. My experience with the game stems from familiarity with similar RPGs like Oblivion and Skyrim, where I was aware of challenges such as limited map markers and unforgiving combat. I found Morrowind to be more immersive than Skyrim, even with difficulty sliders set to zero, focusing on preparation and resource management – something less emphasized in other titles. A drawback is the lack of follower companions with whom gear can be shared, along with somewhat awkward character movement, particularly for Argonians. The graphics are impressively polished for a 2002 game, and I haven't encountered any bugs.
I wanted to discuss an issue regarding the loot system. I consistently used steel armor until researching better options, leading me to explore Dwemer ruins hoping for Dwarven gear. I discovered Dwarven legs and bracers, which pleased me. However, when exploring another ruin infested with vampires, I found chests containing Daedric legs, Ebony boots, and Ebony weapons. This presented a problem; I was level 9 and acquired some of the game's best armor. The shock of this discovery made me consider abandoning it, preferring to pursue more balanced Dwarven equipment. I fought a vampire wearing full Ebony armor, eventually defeating her after numerous attempts. It felt as though I hadn’t earned such powerful gear, leading to a desire to revert to my steel armor and a more measured approach.
I think if you're only level 9, you cannot judge how difficult the game will be yet. I never played Oblivion or Morrowind, but I have played Skyrim, Mass Effect, and other RPGs at length, and I know from experience you can't always judge them based on first reactions. Even Assassin's Creed is now more or less RPG with the changes in Odyssey. I just played through on Hard, and it certainly had it's challenges, especially the fight against Medusa, which takes careful planning and prep. So I can imagine what Nightmare mode will be like.
So my advice is just be glad for now you got more than you were looking for, and keep on exploring. The beauty of a well made RPG is they are feature rich...
