New Do It Yourself Project: "Blink Start" After Power Off
👋 I recently assembled a computer and am encountering random boot issues. I’m trying to gather general advice while reviewing the hardware list if it proves useful. I’ve already searched online and reviewed the checklist at [this link](https://forums. The problem is that the machine briefly powers on for about a quarter of a second when I press the power button. Previously, I could jump the CPU fan to another port on the MOBO board and it would start up. That method became increasingly unreliable until it stopped working altogether. Since Christmas, once I installed it, I’ve set up Windows and drivers, and everything seems to function normally. I recently replaced the CPU and its fan and installed them yesterday. At first, it appeared the fan wasn’t properly seated—though it is now correctly positioned. This seemed to help, allowing me to boot multiple times in a row. To confirm, I powered down the system last night and then it performed the same "blink start" this morning. It seems flipping the power supply off and back on reliably restarts it. It appears that whenever I shut it down, I need to switch the PSU on and off to get it back up. I’ve installed all MOBO drivers and verified in BIOS that all hardware is recognized. Any guidance or troubleshooting tips would be very much appreciated! Thank you in advance!
