Choose an 850w power supply because it’s more than enough for your needs. That amount is excessive but ensures reliability.
Test your old PSU again. Inspect every cable—unplug and reattach each one. Look for any POST codes or beeps that might assist in troubleshooting. Do you have a case speaker ready to use the beeps, rather than regular speakers? Also, have you considered using the iGPU for display instead of the GPU?
Did you modify any other parts of your configuration? Is it a single 8GB module or two 4GB modules? Test it in different slots. Are all connections firmly secured? Did you verify the output using the integrated GPU as well? Have you given it time without power for an extended duration? Have you disassembled everything and reinstalled only the necessary components? Since your 4590 worked with your board, it seems it supports Haswell Refresh. It’s odd that your i5 isn’t functioning now.
no sound, cables reattached... cpu still okay. tried using an iGPU, 1x8GB stick included. plan to move it to another slot. proceeded to restart and removed battery. will let it rest for a while longer. unplugged the hard drives too. honestly, I’m wondering if I should pull out the GPU or just the PCIe connectors—those are really tricky to handle.
Ensure all unnecessary devices are disconnected, including your GPU. Allow it some time—mainboards often need a moment before starting up, and dual EFI/BIOS boards can sometimes run slower during the reflash process. They go through a cycle until they choose to reflash and then resume functioning normally.
update! it looks like that did the trick! she booted up and gave me bios! now question..i need to update the bios..uh so do i need to go here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81M-ITX/...ad&os=BIOS and grab the 1.70 instand flash one? also, this is the most wonderful thing thats ever happened in my life i think. ill hook up the harddrive and see if it contines to runs smoothly.
We need to determine the appropriate bios for you. You didn't mention your exact mainboard model. Please select the most recent version. There are two H81M-ITX boards from AsRock available; pick the correct one.
