New cpu
I just got a new CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) and installed it. My old one was a Ryzen 3 2600, but the pins on my old machine got bent, which might make it unusable. The main problem is that my PC doesn’t power on at all—possibly because of the thermal paste, either from the CPU socket or RAM socket, though I can’t see it clearly. It’s a bit messy around here.
What kind of thermal paste were you applying? If it’s conductive and placed in the socket or DIM slot, that would be problematic. However, as @minibois mentioned, it might relate to a BIOS issue. If that’s true, you’d have needed to update your 2600 before switching to the 3600. You could also adjust the 2600 pins back if they’re damaged, depending on their condition.
Unless pins are damaged, bending them won’t immediately mean a problem with your PGA board or CPU. If it doesn’t power up, don’t jump to conclusions about the hardware. Run some tests to figure things out.
