So, I thought constructing a new PC would be acceptable even though it had been 15 years since my last build. Now I'm stuck. I can't get the unit to function or perform any tasks.

I'm using these components:
Phanteks P400a case
Corsair RM850x PSU
MSI Pro B760M-A
Intel I5
AMD Radeon 6600xt
I5-12600K LGA1700
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x8 3200

I've already swapped the new PSU for another one after a pin test, but the fan didn't spin. I repeated the test on the replacement and it only spun briefly before stopping.

I connected everything except the CPU, SATA, PCIe, and main motherboard (ATX/12V). The fans from Phanteks are linked to two sysfan ports, and the third is connected to the pump fan connector because I couldn't find any other sysfan connections on the motherboard.

I installed the CPU, drives, RAM, etc., without issues, making sure all connectors were properly seated.

I suspect there might be something very basic I'm missing, but it's proving difficult to identify.

I fully removed the card and connected the monitor to the DP of the MB. Despite this, there was still no power to anything I could confirm. I also pulled the PSU connectors into the MB and reattached them. These photos were taken before I removed the GPU.

So, strangely, I pulled the case reset button header out and now the PC boots into the BIOS. I was waiting for POST beeps, but I guess I'm old and they're obsolete. The little LEDs on the motherboard went to green so hopefully all is well. I don't have a reset button so I guess it's no loss, but it seems weird that it would be the fix.

Examine the front panel I/O header closely. Align yourself with the open pins. If you mistakenly connect the reset lead to a led pin, unexpected outcomes may occur.

I carefully reviewed the positioning of all components and examined the diagram from phantecs that indicated the correct lead placement for the missing header pin. Everything is functioning properly now. Without a reset button, the reset switch isn't necessary. Thank you.

No, using a reset button is largely ineffective; keep it disconnected.
