New Build Lookover
New Build Lookover
I aim to construct a new machine using a 4090/192G/13900K processor, paired with Memory Express and their assembly.
I possess a Gold 1300 PSU, a Fractal case with a 4T chassis, and various spare components.
The installation of circuit breaker surge protection is complete.
In about two months, I plan to acquire this system.
Building my own setup is no longer feasible due to declining eyesight, age, fumbling fingers, and limited patience, along with a lack of recent practice.
Here’s the current component list:

Intel Core i9-13900K 3 GHz 24-Core Processor
Deepcool AN600 36.75 CFM CPU Cooler
MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 192 GB (4 x 48 GB) DDR5-5200 CL38 Memory
Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
MSI GAMING X TRIO GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card
This system will serve as a dual-boot environment for both Windows 10 Pro and Linux.
I have two 43-inch 4K monitors and two 30-inch Dell 2560 x 1600 displays.
I’ll run four or five browsers simultaneously, handling hundreds of tabs.
My overclocking target for the 192G RAM/4090 is to support local execution of Chat-GPT models.
I also perform 3D rendering with Poser and use a photo editing application (DXO).
My current rig is a 4790K/32G/980 Ti system equipped with first-generation 1TB NVMES and two 500GB SSDs, featuring seven spinning platters—it’s showing signs of wear.
Recently, my dual 5860 Xeon/96GB RAM/Quadra/TSLA models have fallen out of favor due to frequent power issues in the area, affecting both the 43-inch monitor and the 1250 PSU.
I’m seeking advice on hardware compatibility and general suggestions. I reside in a close-knit neighborhood but can travel to the city for setup, and I’ve handled M/E support for friends, family, and various upgrades.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I’m using a Gold 1300 PSU/Fractal Case and an Intel Core i9-13900K 3 GHz 24-core processor. The PSU is currently being recycled—please share its age and what it previously powered. I’m also using a Deepcool AN600 36.75 CFM CPU cooler, a Corsair Vengeance 192 GB DDR5-5200 CL38 memory pack (4 x 48 GB), and a 6000MHz option.

Also on the 13900k and 14900k, check the guides for entering the BIOS and adjusting voltages to match Intel stock values. There have been reports of instability because some motherboard makers are allowing the boards to push the CPUs beyond their limits.
Hi, thanks.
Lutfij
The 1300 Gold was a replacement order for the 1250 I was using with a dual xeon box.
An EVGA 1300G2 SuperNova 80 turned on once, but further issues with one of the CPUs led me to discard the whole setup.
I typically build with older Supermicro models, so I thought this equipment was beyond its lifespan after my good experience with them.
The case is a Fractal 7 XL (though I don’t quote the label, it’s unmarked black glass).
The Corsair page mentions a Fractal Design Celsius S36 Blackout 87.6 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler, which should fit the box and GPU. I’m unsure about using a full water system with just individual coolers on Xeons.

That’s a solid start. I’m assembling it carefully to avoid any worries, headaches, or frustrations—especially since I’m partially blind and rely heavily on my hands. Besides a potential BIOS tweak for the 192G, I just need it to secure the CPU on the motherboard BIOS for both durability and consistent performance.
Lutfij was advised to explore all air-cooling options to ensure the 13900K stays cool without overcomplicating things. I’m hoping the 360 from Memory Express is sufficient and looks like a solid mount.
I'm relying a lot on the suggestions of a friend who worked in video production and photography. He mentioned that most of the software he used performed better with Intel, even though I didn't examine it closely. That's not to say I didn't check. Thanks.
No worries. As mentioned, some users have experienced issues with certain high-end Intel components, so it's a good idea to review all the settings.
Instead of 4 x dimm pack 192gb, consider using a 2 x kit as much as possible. Filling all four slots might lead to problems with the IMC. However, Intel IMCs are quite durable.
