I’ve done some thorough research on the reasons and consequences but I’m still interested in hearing your thoughts on this. Upgrading to a 7700x this weekend. My main concern is whether I can use my 10 key for installation on 11 or if I need to buy a new key. I’ve read that the “free” upgrade has expired, yet some sources say older keys still work on 11 installs. If I have to pay for 11, I might just install 10 and wait until 2025. But if I can use my 10 key, I’m thinking about moving to 11. Mostly the machine is used for work and gaming; I also connect it to my environment for work, so it’s mainly for casual web browsing and gaming. I’ve heard that 11 offers better utilization of e/p cores and multi-core support, but others say the performance gain is minimal.

When windows identifies suitable hardware, it informs you about the possibility of upgrading to win11, though availability might take some time.

With a fresh OS installation on new hardware, you can apply your current valid Win 10 license key for the new Win 11 setup. From version 10 to 11, it hasn't worked. The issue involves a WIn 7 license attempting to activate either Win 10 or Win 11.

Figured, thank you
So download the 11 ISO and use 10 key on install and that should work?

A legitimate Win 10 license key functions correctly during a fresh Win 11 setup. It's not limited to just the ISO file. Click here...
