Reflections on inpaint and open source options (my top picks):
Why does it need internet access?
Alternative: Gimp offers a "patch" tool that appears to provide similar functionality.
MasterSeeker: It looks quite outdated, only supporting up to Windows 8.1. What’s its performance on Windows 11?
XYplorer: Comparing it to Q-dir, my favorite explorer app on Windows, is it worth the license cost?
Well! I thought I'd share this with you! I hadn't realized it required an internet connection. I've been using it for a while now, and it always gets things done quickly and easily. I'll check the inpaint forum and get back to you. ... Well, after reconsidering, just give it a try or skip it. Either way.
Getting a link isn't always the end of the road.
But how is it actually using that?
Let me try to rephrase that.
It seems you were using a program before Linux that checked for updates and ensured the software wasn't installed on multiple devices. It also verified a valid license and prevented use on other computers. This function was likely part of a defragmentation tool, though I don't remember its exact name.
Looking for updates, of course.
No issue at all.
My primary Paintshop Pro app handles everything consistently. Just a few minutes ago, I saw a popup suggesting a cheap upgrade to the latest version.
I’m pretty sure my secondary paint.net version does the same, but I didn’t check.
Update Inpaint! When it launched, it was a lifetime license for $10. Then it rose to $19 and turned into a yearly subscription, and they removed the "Lifetime License." Now it’s $29 with yearly increases. It’s not a big deal, but it still feels like "LIFETIME!" What other good options exist for us regular folks?
