The situation is quite disheartening; Valve has shifted toward a more profit-driven approach, focusing mainly on steam while neglecting other areas.

I hope it never comes to that. Then I’ll have to hear all the Half Life fans grumble about how the game turned out and that Valve just released it for profit. In my opinion, the Half Life series was never particularly unique.

It seems nobody really wants a final resolution for Half-Life... it's just a fun idea or personal story!

In this fictional setting, the focus should be on maintaining your company’s standards and avoiding the release of something that might disappoint users or underperform compared to existing solutions. There’s no justification for Valve to prioritize meeting internal targets over delivering a product that could meet customer needs.

I don't feel content with the idea that the story will never reach a conclusion. Considering Valve's current position, it seems futile if HL3 gets announced. The main advantage for the upcoming update might be memes... the biggest concern is whether the next cycle of the source engine will work.

It really doesn't matter, it's always a hit to munch on popcorn.
