You're experiencing issues with your new apartment's network setup. It seems the Ethernet ports are available but not functioning properly, possibly due to configuration or connectivity problems. The modem/router is in the living room, so you're considering using existing ports instead of running new cables. The box with connections might be useful for troubleshooting or expanding your setup. Let me know if you need further guidance!

It makes sense that it won't function properly. The jacks aren't linked to anything except a board without internet access. You'll likely need to connect an Ethernet cable into the plugs above each spliced cable on the board. Either use a single cable with an affordable switch plug connected to it, or run several cables directly to the board. It's also possible the setup requires just one main cable for the entire board, though that seems unlikely.

You should connect the cable to your router first, then set up the switch appropriately.

All ports require a cable to be plugged in for functionality. I’d link four small cables to a switch placed either on the switch or wall, then connect one from the switch to the router. Alternatively, you can plug directly into the panel using your router if preferred.

Connect the specified ports to your Router, either directly if there are sufficient free ports or through a switch if your router lacks enough unused ports.

Alright, I understand how to handle it too. It keeps things tidier, and I think the router isn't close by (maybe that's not accurate).

I never say never until I'm confident. It really caught me off guard how few switch boards had been used in these cases, and they functioned, though this one was almost entirely a simple cable replacement.

Check if the internet port is already connected. If not, you can connect the cables from the switch without unplugging it.

Check the connections carefully. The port marked "internet" likely connects to a jack near your modem. Each device in the box should link to an appropriate port in your home.
