Hello everyone. At my university everything linked to the internet needs registration. When you plug in your smartphone or PC, you download software with your credentials and suddenly it works. You're connected... But I tried to link my Hue bridge—used for those smart RGB lights controlled by your phone—to the network. Unfortunately, I can't handle the login details or the required software. I also planned to add a NAS server someday, but I'm unsure if the university offers the necessary tools for whatever Linux version it uses. This seems like a very specific issue... The overlap between students wanting a NAS in their halls and the "University Student" group might be minimal, so it's hard to say if anyone has dealt with this before. You never know...

You can convert your Windows laptop or PC into a Wi-Fi hotspot. https://www.howtogeek.com/214080/how-to-...i-hotspot/ I'm unsure about smartphone and wired connection options.

WiFi isn't suitable for my needs; I require wired connections. The Phillies Bridge functions only through Ethernet, and even if it worked wirelessly, the speeds wouldn't meet NAS requirements.

Are you initially linking to the local network without internet access and then entering the necessary details to gain online access? A router should function properly in that case. Connect the WAN port to the network and link your devices to the LAN ports. The network perceives this as a single device since the router (acting as a NAT) translates all outgoing traffic to its own IP address. Any required settings such as IP addresses or gateways must be configured on the router rather than the computer. You can then utilize the PC software to input the credentials. In a comparable setup, the same network uses an SSH client that stores the login server's IP address.

Check with IT about registering the MAC address of a DDWRT router's WiFi card for Ethernet access. Also, inquire if it's possible to connect a computer's WiFi and Ethernet ports through bridging.
