To sum up, I’m using two computers linked via a 1 gigabit connection to move big files between SSDs. The gaming laptop can handle full transfers at 1 gig speed, but the SSD is reading at nearly all capacity and only moving about 10mbps. Running a benchmark shows the SATA interface works fine, so it’s likely not the drive itself. No storage or network limits are present on either side.

We're discussing file types and their impact on performance. Are we referring to a large directory with numerous small files or a single large video file? Understanding this helps clarify the speed issues. Also, confirm whether you're experiencing 10 megabit/s or megabyte/s speeds—confusion here can affect accuracy. Either rate is considered slow.

You're handling large volumes of ISO files, roughly 2GB each, with a transfer rate of about 10 MB per second. The directory contains around 25 files.

The specifications of the source and target PCs are being clarified. The Ethernet cable category in use is being asked, whether it’s pre-made or custom-crimped. Each PC’s Ethernet card is being checked for gigabit negotiation. The network devices connecting the computers are being identified. It’s confirmed there are no competing network activities during the transfer. Previous attempts with TeraCopy or RoboCopy have been reviewed.
