Network security issue Problem with firewall configuration or performance
Consider shifting the server to the address of another device you’re certain has functionality, then revert that IP during testing. This might indicate an IP conflict exists.
I've used a different IP before, but the problem remains the same. I attempted to ping from another computer using the server's IP, but the request timed out. It's unclear if this will help.
Is the firewall still active? If not, ICMP packets should pass through. You mentioned you verified access to ports locally—how did you confirm that? I anticipate it would drop if ICMP is blocked. This strongly suggests a network problem. Maybe plug the server directly into the router with another cable, avoiding any switches or similar devices it currently uses.
The firewall remains turned off, but I'm attempting a direct connection to provide an update.
Despite connecting the server to the router, I still can’t reach it through VNC or port 25565. However, I’m able to ping it from another device using its internal IP and port via VNC.
Since you can now send messages, I’d revert it back to its original IP and begin port forwarding from the beginning. It seems you’re familiar with configuring port forwarding as you have on other devices. There’s nothing unique about Server 2019 that would block traffic when the firewall is off. I can only suggest it might be a network problem if it keeps failing.
I encounter an issue during the port forward attempt. The error message is unclear: “error code 1, reload the page or contact assistance.” I’m considering a fresh installation of Windows Server to resolve potential problems.
