I just got my new Zephyrus G14 (GA401HQ) and wanted to test Windows 11 with a clean setup, avoiding all the extra stuff from ASUS or McAfee. The media tool is done and I’m now in the Windows 11 installation screen (with region and keyboard options). I need to connect to the internet to start configuring Windows, but no networks appear. After checking the Microsoft site and reinstalling the Wi-Fi drivers, I’m still unable to get online. To be sure, my signal used to be strong before this update—I previously installed Windows 11 via the Windows Update tool in Windows 10 settings. Any advice or fixes? Should I consider buying it from a physical store instead? Thanks ahead of time.

Can you connect a network cable to it? If not, I’d suggest performing a clean Windows 10 installation and checking the WiFi functionality there before returning the device. Also, verify that there’s no AirPlane mode or a disabled Wi-Fi switch active on the device.

a) unfortunately there is no rj45 port on the device however i will try an buy a usb to rj45 adapter b) I did try to press airplane mode (fn + f12) just incase i accidentally pressed it while i was spamming function keys bc it doesn't show which key to press to enter bios. However there is no indicator so i have no idea if it's on or off. Either way i did try to launch into setup twice both times pressing the airplane mode (just incase).

The chipset driver should be installed first before adding drivers for other parts such as Wi-Fi, audio, Bluetooth, or USB. This likely explains the many explanation marks you see in Device Manager because not all drivers are present yet.

Similar to yours, I experienced connection problems on my home Wi-Fi 6 network—signal drops, missed connections, and the card disappearing from device manager after a Windows update. MediaTek’s driver updates seem inconsistent, which led me to purchase an AX200 model (previously Intel Wi-Fi) and replace the original. After a fresh Windows 10 install, I manually installed drivers and disabled the MediaTek updates to avoid issues. The AX200 performed much better, and I strongly suggest replacing your Wi-Fi card with models like the AX200 or AX201, which are generally under $30. I’m hoping this helps you moving forward. When upgrading to Windows 11, I’ll consider the AMD processor issues but remain unsure due to conflicting reports.

From my experience I haven't had any issues connecting to wifi (I have WIFI 5 at home thought so that might be the reason why) and it's been completely fine. Good job on switching it out though, would of never thought to switch my wifi card. As for Windows 11 on AMD. Unless your seriously gaming (which I don't do on this laptop, just a load productivity and school work) it has run without issues on this laptop for the last 2 months. Not sure about the performance hit in gaming though. I'm currently still running windows 10 on my gaming pc at home as I have a older cpu without the tpm 2.0 module.

Did you successfully resolve it without using Intel's one? You just got GA401QM and still can't connect to Wi-Fi Sad
