Hey everyone, I’m dealing with some tricky issues after setting up my new computer. Every day it loses internet connection, and even a simple restart doesn’t solve the problem. Once it’s back online, everything runs smoothly—no lag, no errors. But when the connection drops, it just stops without warning, leaving me confused about what to do next.

When I try to connect via Ethernet, the modem still shows it’s connected to the repeater, but I can’t access anything. The Wi-Fi for my modem says it’s connected to the internet, yet when I try to connect to either of my repeaters, it just shows no internet. I’ve checked the Wi-Fi settings on my phone and it works fine there.

I’ve tried several fixes: uninstalled devices in Device Manager (including hidden ones), allowed reinstall, changed ports on the modem, set lease time permanently, and even flushed DNS with ipconfig commands. I also ran a fresh Windows install and checked the network settings. Still no clear solution.

Anyone have ideas? I’m hoping someone can help me figure this out before it affects my work.

I believe I discovered a solution. Restarted the network, and everything is now working properly again—WiFi and Ethernet are both stable. Hope this lasts.

Windows can manage both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections simultaneously, but performance may vary depending on network settings. Disabling Wi-Fi won’t necessarily affect Ethernet functionality.

It manages the situation effectively, choosing the wired link in most scenarios and relying on Wi-Fi only when necessary.

The Realtek 2.5G adapter is pretty flaky from what I've read, and I've personally seen similar issues with an ASRock B550 Steel Legend as it uses the same NIC chipset. So far (knock on wood) I've solved the issue by updating the driver from Realtek's website. Apparently it's somewhat of a known issue if anything posted on reddit is to be believed. From Asus's website , their driver published is version 10.35 dated Aug 1, 2019. However the one on Realtek's website is 10.54 dated Dec 28, 2021. I'm sure eventually Asus will update their website to reflect the same. But you can get 10.54 here. https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo...s-software Another option is to simply not use the 2.5G adapter and instead use the Intel I211 gigabit as the drivers are far more mature and I've never experienced issues with Intel NICs. In fact, I prefer Intel ethernet controllers over anything else TBH. So, if you can't solve the Realtek issue, at least you can side-step the problem.
